We offer group, semi-private, and private lessons. You can saddle up and ride
one of our lesson horses or bring your own. Western programs available.
Our instructors are enthusiastic and make the lessons fun and informative. Special activities are planned to make the learning process exciting while you learn about horses, riding, and most of all, how to be safe and comfortable around horses. Our instructors take advantage of our grounds and Chatfield State Park in various stages of our lessons. Come experience the world of horses. Your life will be changed forever. Western and other riding disciplines (all levels, all ages) We offer instruction in western riding and events, trail, horse/rider troubleshooting, confidence building, horse shopping and ownership.

Organized through Stockton's. Western Riding and other riding disciplines; horses and tack can be supplied. Groups of 3-6 riders, beginners through advanced. This is great for the continuation of your riding skills after completion of our South Suburban Group Lesson Program. Or we will customize for home schools, families, scout troops, neighborhoods, friends, and individuals. Lessons are offered through various recreation centers and contact information can be found in the Registration and Pricing section.
Register through South Suburban Parks and Recreation District and Highlands Ranch Recreation Center. Western Riding; horses and tack are supplied.

Prerequisite: None
Learn about horse behavior, grooming, feeding and enjoy riding. Focus on safety while building confidence.
Ages: 5-7yrs
Prerequisite: Kiddie Corral 1
Building on skills learned in Kiddie Corral. With partner; groom, saddle, bridle, and learn to ride with reins. A fun obstacle 'race' at the end of class.
Ages: 8-14yrs
Prerequisite: None
Horsemanship introduction for beginning horseman. Emphasizes communication, grooming, handling skills with daily demonstrations and hands on practice. Bareback riding, saddling, and the introduction of rein use.
Ages: 8-14yrs
Prerequisite: Building Horsemanship
More intensive western horsemanship for Building Horsemanship graduates. Improve ability to catch, groom, saddle, bridle and ride. Wrap-up the last day with a trail ride.
Ages: 8-14yrs
Prerequisite: Intermediate Horsemanship
Three days of learning fundamentals of trail riding. Learn how to cross logs, water, and other obstacles on horse back safely.
Offered through South Suburban Parks and Recreation District and Highlands Ranch Recreation Center. Western Riding; horses and tack are supplied.
Ages: 15yrs and up

Customized birthday packages for kids and their horse riding friends are available. Learn to rope, go on a scavenger hunt, have a horse beauty show, play games on horseback, or for the experienced riders, hold a gymkhana event. All supplies and treasures for the riders are included. A fee of $200 an hour accommodates 6 partygoers.
Stockton's is also equipped to assist in the purchase of a horse, Girl Scout horse badges, and preparation for horse shows

If your scheduled instructor is not available the day of your lesson, you will be notified of your alternate instructor or be contacted by phone to be rescheduled.
All lessons are reserved in advance with a credit card or payment must be received at the office to book your time.
Horse catching, grooming and saddling are a part of each lesson. All students should allow enough time after each class to help instructor, clean up the indoor arena of props used and horse manure. Instructor may also request help putting the horses up. Questions, concerns, horse related experiences should be handled during your scheduled time.
